The girl took the stage right during the fashion show in Paris. The yellow poster read: “We are all fashion victims”. Interestingly, initially everyone thought that this was the idea of the show, but it is not.
Extinction Rebellion, an organization covering climate change issues, took responsibility for the action. This is not the first performance of this movement: they also previously tried to disrupt shows for political and cultural reasons, in 2019 they protested for the cancellation of London Fashion Week. The movement calls the fashion industry “an exploitative and oppressive system.” They advocate that fashion leaders “directly address the problem of overproduction and obsolescence.”
