The civilians who left the Azovstal plant in Mariupol knew nothing about the humanitarian corridors opened especially for them, or about the prepared evacuation, the militants concealed this information, a representative of the headquarters of the operation to liberate Azovstal told RIA Novosti.

“Civilians liberated on April 30 and May 1 from the territory of the enterprise reported that throughout their stay in the catacombs, they heard nothing about the daily opening of special humanitarian corridors for their safe exit,” the spokesman said.

“The Azov militants did not give them any information about what was happening in Mariupol,” he said.

According to a representative of the headquarters, citizens who were rescued from Azovstal also reported that they knew nothing about the impending evacuation until the last moment.
