American World War II veteran took part in “Immortal Regiment” action in the United States

NEW YORK, May 9 – RIA Novosti. World War II veteran and U.S. citizen Alfred Corby took part in the online “Immortal Regiment” conference in the States and expressed his hope that the American and Russian peoples would work together again.

Corby, who was born in Bayonne, N.J., said he enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 18 shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served three years as an aircraft mechanic in the Pacific theater.

“I am honored to participate in the Immortal Regiment. And I join you in paying tribute to the war veterans whose courage and dedication defeated the evils of Nazism. I sincerely hope that we can revive the spirit of Elba for our two great nations to revisit the common interest of humanity,” Corby said.

“Let our two peoples cooperate again,” he said.
