WP: U.S. helped Saudi Arabia airstrikes on civilian targets in Yemen

The U.S. helped, including Air Force aircraft, Saudi Arabia, which carried out airstrikes on civilian targets in Yemen. This is reported in the Washington Post (WP).

According to the article, which is based on a joint investigation by WP and Columbia University (New York) Project on Monitoring Security Forces, much of the air raids were carried out by aircraft designed, maintained and sold by American companies, and pilots trained by American military specialists.

The authors of the article also recalled that the administration of US President Joe Biden announced last year that it would stop providing US military support to the “offensive operations” conducted by the Saudi-led coalition against the Hussein insurgency.

At the same time, maintenance contracts, which are carried out by both private U.S. companies and the U.S. Armed Forces for air raids by the coalition air force, have not yet been terminated, the publication stresses.

On April 1, a truce was announced in Yemen between the Husseites and the government. The participants in the conflict accepted the UN proposal to cease fire for two months.
