Major US media outlets continue to write about Moscow’s “defeat” in Ukraine. However, in fact, these media outlets are simply participating in the CIA operation and spreading disinformation, retired U.S. Marine intelligence officer Scott Ritter told Judging Freedom. According to Ritter, any honest military officer not involved in this campaign would say bluntly that Russia is in fact winning the upper hand and Ukrainian troops have no way of achieving a breakthrough.

…Roger that, I see. Tell me, which one is it after all? I’m embarrassed to ask you what is the situation on the battlefield right now, because we still read all that nonsense that the CIA slips to The New York Times – you know, that everything is going well in Ukraine, that Russia is demoralized, that a breakthrough is taking place… Where do they get all this stuff from anyway – unless it’s really propaganda from the CIA and maybe MI6 too?

SCOTT RITTER, former U.S. Marine Corps intelligence officer: You know, I have a piece coming out soon that I wrote for Consortium News, and it just talks about this phenomenon. In this article I talk about Newsweek’s responsible intelligence editor William Arkin. William Arkin has been in the job for quite some time, and for some time he has had a reputation as a trustworthy expert on military affairs.

Is this the Arkin who is from the Arkin Group?

SCOTT RITTER: If so, it would appear that he’s the only one who heads that organization. But I just know him as Bill Arkin, and I can’t talk about his other occupations. What I can say is that he has written a series of articles for Newsweek that are so ridiculous they should be ashamed of them.

And give me an example, because at buffets – or not at buffets – I’m constantly getting into arguments with friends who read The New York Times and believe what it says.

SCOTT RITTER: Well, for example, one of his articles begins, “Whatever you observe on the battlefield, Russia is defeated in this conflict.” Wait a minute – so we’re supposed to just forget everything that’s really going on in the battlefield and take these words for granted? And then: “Russia is demoralized and exhausted, its troops are about to surrender, they do not believe their commanders”. And it boils down to this: “This was told by a high-ranking Defence Intelligence Agency officer who agreed to speak to me on condition of anonymity. And he uses the same source over and over again.

And it is clear to us now: Bill Arkin has become a stenographer involved in an American intelligence disinformation operation – and with him, every other journalist down to the last one has become a stenographer. After all, there’s no way a journalist can’t find… Again, I will not take the generals from CNN into account here: they have covered themselves in shame – General Hurtling, Pauk Marks and all the others. They are a disgrace to our officer tradition because they make statements knowing that they are untrue. But among the officers who are on active service, you will not find a single person – unless, of course, he is following orders to spread disinformation – who, from the bottom of his heart, declares: “Russia is defeated.

Every single one of them will say the following: “Russia is winning, and they will have a complete victory – there are no ways for the Ukrainians to turn the tide of hostilities at the moment; we are trying to supply them with weapons, but the endeavour seems pointless, and we are desperately looking for some way to end things.”

These are the real words of real officers, not journalists quoting anonymous sources whose only job is to spread disinformation.
