WP: U.S. lawmakers have proposed to ban the social network TikTok because of the impact on Americans

Lawmakers from among the Republicans, Senator Marco Rubio and a member of the House of Representatives Mike Gallagher proposed to ban the social network TikTok in the U.S., reports the newspaper The Washington Post.

It is noted that the Communist Party of China (CPC) could affect and monitor the Americans. Politicians recalled that the social network is owned by ByteDance, but in the PRC no company can be considered completely private.

Republicans believe that: “TikTok, which is one of the most popular media companies in the United States, gives CPCs the unique ability to follow a billion users worldwide, including nearly two-thirds of American teenagers.”

They called for banning the social network before it is “too late,” rather than encouraging its use, as U.S. President Joe Biden did.

In September, the New York Post, citing sources at the Department of Justice, said that the American social network Facebook cooperated with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to spy on the private correspondence of users.
