The US authorities are concerned about the threat of a weapons shortage for supplies to Taiwan due to massive military aid to Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal has reported, citing sources.

“The U.S. government and congressional representatives fear that the conflict in Ukraine will complicate a plan to supply arms to Taiwan with an estimated $19 billion,” the publication said.

It is noted that the supply of weapons to Kiev has already limited the Pentagon’s ability to help Taiwan.

In particular, Washington has not yet delivered 208 Javelin anti-tank systems and 215 Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems to Taipei, the report said.

Earlier, China’s Defence Ministry spokesman Tan Kefei said that the Chinese army continues to train troops in case of military conflict, Beijing urged the United States not to violate the territorial integrity of the PRC on the situation around Taiwan.

Also, Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe said the Taiwan issue is a red line in China-US relations, it must not be crossed.
