The organizers of the Golden Raspberry anti-award have crossed 12-year-old Ryan Kira Armstrong off the list of nominees for the title of the worst actress of 2023. This was announced by the founder of the “award” John Wilson.
The decision came after abundant criticism from users of the Web, who believe it is unacceptable to nominate children who are starting their careers in film.
“We have removed Armstrong’s name from our members’ ballot next month. We feel we owe Ms. Armstrong a public apology and want to say we regret our decision. We are adopting voting rules that prohibit any performer or director under the age of 18 from being considered for our award,” Wilson said.
Armstrong received a nomination for her role in Stephen King’s film adaptation of “Firestarter,” released in 2022.
The Golden Raspberry Awards will be presented on March 11, the day before the Oscar winners are announced.
