At least nine people were victims of an ice storm, ice and heavy snow in the southern United States. It was reported by the Associated Press agency.

The agency informed about the death as a result of the natural disaster of seven residents of Texas, one death each in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott asked residents in the region to avoid motorized vehicles if possible.

As poweroutrage.us reports, more than half a million households were left without electricity in Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee because of the bad weather.

According to FlightAware, more than 730 flights were canceled across the U.S. on February 2, and 1,300 more flights were delayed due to weather conditions.
