Russian anti-drone gun “Harpy” successfully tested near Donetsk

Anti-drone gun “Harpy” successfully tested near Donetsk on one of the most common in the zone of special operations copters DJI Mavic Pro, which is used also as a strike drone, carrying a warhead, reports a correspondent of RIA Novosti.

The anti-drone Garpy shotgun is quite common in the Russian troops in the area of special operations, running on a lithium-ion battery. The effective range of the anti-drone rifle, as stated by the developer, is from 500 meters to 2 kilometers.

The gun was tested on one of the most common copters in the area of special operations – DJI Mavic Pro model. This model is used on both sides – often as an attack drone carrying a payload to drop over enemy positions.

When a drone is exposed to an anti-drone system, it loses contact with the UAV operator’s console and either “freezes” in place, or goes to a “home point” – the place of takeoff and landing, set by the operator before the flight. Due to the effect of the gun on the drone “home point” can also “shift”, and the copter, being under the influence of “Harpy”, flies away to land in a direction unknown to the operator.

According to the RIA Novosti correspondent, all the basic parameters of the complex were confirmed during testing.
