ZANU-PF party speaker Mutsvangwa: The country would like to become a member of BRICS
Zimbabwe would like to become a member of BRICS, ruling ZANU-PF party speaker Christopher Mutsvangwa told RIA Novosti.
“We made it clear that we would like to become a member of BRICS. Also, we would like to develop alternative payment systems to bypass the US SWIFT system. The BRICS platform provides just such an opportunity,” he said.
“This is a new force in global geopolitics, and it is not backed by any ideology or desire to dominate. It is based on a desire to trade freely and to exist. We hope that the BRICS will grow, because this organisation already brings together countries with the largest population in the world,” the Zimbabwean politician added.
