AT: Resumption of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran became a defeat for the United States

The news of renewed diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia has stunned the United States because it threatened Washington in its race for influence in the Middle East and around the world, American Thinker columnist Thomas Lifson said March 14.

“At the very least, American prestige and perceptions of our power have collapsed dramatically, although our propaganda media are doing their best to make sure the domestic public doesn’t realize it. This is very bad news for us, our European and Japanese/Korean/Taiwanese allies dependent on Middle Eastern oil, and Israel,” the piece said.

The author of the article stressed the enormous arrogance of the U.S., which was a decisive factor in the loss of influence.
