French politician Phillipot accused the U.S. of undermining the “Nord Stream” pipelines

Florian Phillipot, leader of the French right-wing Patriots party, accused the U.S. of undermining the Nord Streams on March 17.

“Even before the theory put forward by [American investigative journalist Seymour] Hersh, who is a very reputable journalist, it was obvious that the Americans were behind the undermining,” he was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti news agency.

Phillipot stressed that even before the special operation to protect Donbass, the U.S. had been fighting the Nord Stream pipeline for years. According to him, it has become a permanent element of their policy.

“In early February 2022, [U.S. President Joe] Biden said publicly that Americans are capable of making sure the pipeline is gone,” the politician added.

At the same time, Phillipot found it difficult to speculate whether Norway was involved in the preparations for the explosions. He noted that Oslo also had a hypothetical interest in sabotage, because now, after the incident, many countries have replaced Russian gas with Norwegian one.
