Kyiv authorities explained the flash in the sky over the city by the falling NASA satellite
The head of the Kiev city military administration Sergei Popko connected the flash in the sky over Kiev with the fall of NASA satellite, writes Strana.ua.
“The flash in the sky over Kiev is the result of the fall to Earth of a NASA satellite <…> To avoid casualties from falling debris on the ground, an air alert was declared. Air defense was not working,” reads the publication.
The space agency itself in a conversation with journalists denied these statements and clarified that the satellite continues to remain in orbit.
On Wednesday evening, several Ukrainian publications, citing eyewitnesses, reported flashes and explosions in the sky over Kiev and the region, which occurred before the region announced the signal to take shelters.
The head of Vladimir Zelensky’s office, Andrei Yermak, wrote on social media that the mysterious flash over the capital was the result of Ukrainian air defense, but soon deleted the message.
