Claims of Russia to the realization of the grain deal are not groundless. This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

“The issue must be resolved and the arrangements must be prolonged. The deal has so far been extended by the Russians for 60 days. They want their expectations to be met. We cannot say that the Russian side is wrong [that the claims are groundless],” the newspaper Izvestiya quoted Çavuşoğlu as saying, citing the Financial Times.

It is noted that Turkey is negotiating with the parties of the deal. At this stage, the role of Turkish banks as intermediaries in the payments for Russian grain and fertilizers is being discussed.

According to the Madam Secretary telegram channel on April 29, Çavuşoğlu also said that Britain and the United States are not fulfilling the terms of the grain deal and are responsible for disrupting the Russian part of the “Black Sea Grain Initiative.”

“If you ask me if the difficulties with the implementation of the Russian part of the grain deal continue, I will answer that they do. It happens because of the United States and the United Kingdom,” the Turkish foreign minister, quoted by Madam Secretary, said.

According to the Minister, the United Kingdom and the United States claim that the sanctions do not apply to transactions under the above-mentioned agreement, but nevertheless, American and British banks do not want to conduct transactions to pay for grain supplies from Russia.
