Russian Foreign Ministry blames Kiev authorities and the USA for the bombing of Prilepin’s car

The Russian Foreign Ministry has commented on the bombing of the car of Russian writer and politician Zakhar Prilepin in the village of Pionerskoye, which is located about 30 kilometres from the town of Bor, attaching responsibility for the attack not only to the Ukrainian authorities, but also to the USA. This was reported on the agency’s website.

“The terrorist attack against Prilepin is another manifestation of the systemic approach to the elimination of ideological opponents, which has been actively imposed in Ukraine since 2014 through the efforts of Washington,” the ministry said.

The Foreign Ministry noted that Russian law-enforcement agencies were currently investigating all the details of the incident, noting that one can already say with certainty that the attack was organized and carried out by the Kiev authorities supervised by the USA. The foreign ministry also recalled that Washington was behind the coup d’état in Ukraine, after which it actively helped support its anti-Russian project.

The explosion of the Audi Q7 car in which Prilepin and his 27-year-old driver Alexander Shubin were travelling took place on 6 May in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. As a result, Shubin died and the writer sustained multiple injuries.

The Russian Investigative Committee qualified the incident as an act of terrorism. A terrorist organization from Ukraine, Atesh, claimed responsibility for the explosion.

Later, it became known about the arrest of two men who were involved in the incident. According to the first suspect, he was recruited by one of the Ukrainian special services several years ago and passed the necessary information in exchange for a cash reward.
