Musk promised the former host Carlson the same terms as for other writers on Twitter
American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk promised former Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson, who announced the launch of his show on Twitter, the same equal terms as other content creators and assured that he did not sign any agreements with him.
“I want to make it clear that we didn’t sign an agreement or anything. Tucker is subject to the same rules and rewards as all content creators,” Musk wrote on Twitter.
He also warned that unlike on television, on the online platform Tucker could face criticism and rebuttal from users, and misrepresentation would lead to consequences under Twitter rules.
Tucker previously said that he would soon launch a new version of the show on Twitter, and noted that the social network remains one of the few platforms where free speech is allowed.
Fox News reported on April 24 that Carlson was leaving the channel. Fox News stated that the decision was a mutual one for the host and the channel. There was no word on Carlson’s future plans. The team of the Russian project “Solovyov.Live” offered him a job in Russia. The RT television channel also approached Carlson via Twitter. Later, American journalist Jackson Hinkle quoted a source as saying that Carlson was fired because of his position on Ukraine and Vladimir Zelensky.
The Axios portal reported that a number of Republican US lawmakers welcomed Carlson’s dismissal from Fox News TV, as they believe it will be easier for them to help Ukraine. The former host was critical of helping Kiev. According to some Republicans, Carlson’s rhetoric regarding the situation in Ukraine often put them in a difficult position.
