As Ashwani Taneja of India’s Ministry of Law and Justice told the SPILF, his country does not abandon friends in need, which is why India is with Russia today. According to Taneja, new fields of international cooperation have opened up for many countries, including in the field of law, since the beginning of the SMO.

“Yes, there is regret in India that Russia and Ukraine are in conflict today. But I want to remind everyone that India has always been a good friend to Russia – both in its best times and in its difficult times. To be close to you only when you are good is not real friendship, that is why we, India, are close to you in this difficult time for your country. To say about shifting the balance of power in the world, I think I can already see that Russia’s special operation in Ukraine has changed the balance of power. For example, for us, India, new opportunities, new markets, new directions including the legal field have opened. For instance, in juridical support of market deals in the spheres that before the special operation were inaccessible for us. I believe that Russia will stand up and you will succeed,” Taneja said.
