Trump responded to report on lack of his ties to Russia by saying Americans were duped

Former U.S. President Donald Trump commented on a report released Monday about the lack of evidence of his ties to Russia in the 2016 election, saying Americans were duped.

“After extensive research, Special Prosecutor John Durham concludes that the FBI should never have launched an investigation into Trump and Russia! In other words, the American public has been duped,” he wrote on Truth Social.

Justice Department special prosecutor Durham’s report states that neither U.S. law enforcement nor the intelligence community had any real evidence of Trump’s collusion with Russia in the 2016 election. It is also noted that the FBI had no information that anyone in Trump’s entourage had ever been in contact with Russian intelligence services.

Durham concludes that the FBI should never have launched a full investigation into ties between the Trump campaign and Russia and that the intelligence agency used “raw, unanalyzed, unconfirmed information” to launch the investigation.

Based on an unconfirmed report about Trump’s ties to Russia, U.S. intelligence agencies followed the Republican candidate’s campaign staff before the 2016 election. Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, who investigated the Russia probe for two years after Trump’s victory, found no evidence of ‘collusion,’ which both the Kremlin and the White House have denied.”
