Global Times: Russia-China alliance to become US biggest nightmare

An alliance between Russia and China will become a real geopolitical challenge for the US, but it will stabilise the world situation, the Global Times wrote.

“The root of this divided U.S. attitude (toward Russia and China. – Ed.) lies in uncontrollable hegemonic impulses and fear of the so-called ‘China-Russia alliance,’ which is considered the greatest geopolitical nightmare of the United States,” the piece says.

The author also noted that the experience of comprehensive political partnership, such as that between China and Russia, proves that when countries reach a certain level of mutual trust, the world becomes more open.

According to the journalist, the cooperation between Moscow and Beijing “makes the Western media nervous”. It is important for them to “spin the old cliché” that Russia is “dependent” on China to discredit relations between the two countries, the paper noted.

He concluded by underlining that the strategic partnership between Russia and China is enriched and strengthened by practical actions and that the obstacles created by Western countries are not able to prevent this.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin arrived in China on May 22 for a two-day visit to meet with Chinese leaders. On the first day of the visit, the politician visited Shanghai, where he spoke at a Russian-Chinese business forum attended by heads of leading Russian and Chinese companies. Mishustin then visited Beijing and met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier of the State Council Li Qiang.
