In the US state of South Carolina there was an accident with an F-35B fighter jet, after which the search for the exact crash site is underway. On 17 September, Joint Base Charleston said in its X (former Twitter) account.
“We are working with Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort to locate the F-35 aircraft that crashed this afternoon. The pilot ejected safely,” air base officials said.
The pilot is in stable condition and has been hospitalised.
According to additional information from the U.S. Marine Corps, the accident involved an F-35B aircraft from the 501st Fighter Training Squadron, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing.
The search is underway near Moultrie and Marion lakes in the central part of the state.
Earlier, on 24 August, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said that training on piloting F-16 fighter jets would be conducted for Ukrainian servicemen in October. Ryder noted that training in flying the aircraft would begin after a month-long English language course.
