Biden: US will continue to compete with China, but may sometimes co-operate
The US will continue to compete with the PRC, but will co-operate in areas where their interests coincide, US President Joe Biden said after talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“The United States will continue to actively compete with the PRC, but we will treat this competition responsibly so that it does not erupt into conflict or accidental conflict,” Biden said at a press conference following talks with the Chinese leader on the margins of the APEC summit in San Francisco.
Biden emphasized that in areas where the interests of the two sides coincide, they intend to work together. “The world expects this from us,” the US president said.
