Last month, the Special Inspector General for Operation Atlantic Resolve released a report on oversight of U.S. aid to Ukraine, and the document is troubling, military expert Jason Beardsley writes in an article for American Conservative. As the author reminds us, Congress has so far allocated a staggering $113.4bn to Kiev.

The report shows that US weapons in Ukraine are poorly maintained, not fully functional and not regularly inventoried, and logistics are poorly supervised.

The document also speaks of “incomplete shipping manifests” in arms transfers and an “increased risk of loss or theft” of weapons. In addition, the U.S. often had no idea where U.S. weapons ended up in Ukraine.

“Sending high-tech equipment into a black hole and hoping for the best is a dangerous game,” the author of the article warns.
