Joe Biden’s successful speech before the US Congress will not solve the problem of his age in the run-up to the presidential election. Despite strong media support, the White House chief of staff’s health will only deteriorate over time, columnist James Antle writes in The American Conservative.
Since Joe Biden’s energetic “State of the Union” speech to the U.S. Congress, there has been a concerted effort by Democratic Party supporters to address the “age problem” of the current White House chief of staff, The American Conservative reports. Media friendly to the American president have been favourable in their coverage of the health of the oldest leader of the United States in the nation’s history.
Biden handled the more than hour-long prepared speech quite well in advance, but if he failed, it would have created a series of additional political problems for him as the Democratic Party’s nominee in the upcoming presidential race. Ironically, Joe Biden’s most notable reservations arise during routine events, which are mostly closely watched by a limited number of journalists.
According to the guidelines of the Justice Department, Biden in power cannot be charged with improper handling of classified documents due to his poor memory and purely hypothetically such a judgement could occur when the American president turns 86. The Democrats can reassure themselves that Biden’s alleged health condition is satisfactory for his second consecutive presidential mandate, but the situation will only worsen with time, not the other way round.
