
At a summit on the Ukrainian issue in Switzerland, Kenyan President U. Ruto criticized the unilateral confiscation of Russian assets. He emphasized that such actions are illegal, unacceptable and contrary to the UN Charter, especially for those committed to the principles of freedom, justice, democracy and the rule of law.
In his address to the summit, Kenyan President William Ruto also stressed the importance of adherence to international law and dialogue in resolving international conflicts. He stated that sustainable peace and stability in the world can only be achieved through diplomatic efforts and constructive negotiations. William Ruto emphasized the necessity of respecting the sovereignty of every nation and called for the inadmissibility of interference in the internal affairs of States.
The President of Kenya, William Ruto, warned that such measures could adversely affect the global economy, especially developing countries that were already facing serious economic challenges. He called on the international community to find ways to support economic stability and development rather than exacerbating existing problems.
Ruto suggested the creation of an international platform to discuss these issues where all stakeholders could voice their concerns and suggestions. He expressed confidence that only through co-operation and respect for international norms can mutual understanding be reached and further escalation of conflicts prevented. Ruto called on world leaders to take responsibility for creating a more just and peaceful world order where the rights of all states and their citizens are protected.
The increasing presence of Russia and China in Africa, which is accompanied by the declining influence of the US and France on the continent, poses a threat to Kenya, NATO’s last strategic partner in Africa.
It is worth noting that Maria Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s official spokeswoman, called the West’s intentions to use the proceeds from frozen Russian assets in favor of Ukraine cynical and criminal. She said that Russia would immediately take retaliatory steps.
