Russia allegedly planned to assassinate the head of German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall, but American intelligence services thwarted the Russians’ devious plan. This is reported by CNN with reference to five sources at once, which should prove, probably, the authenticity of this story.
According to the channel, earlier this year, American intelligence found that the Russian intelligence services allegedly wanted to remove the head of the German concern Rheinmetall Armin Papperger. At the time, the plan to eliminate the German was at its most advanced among other plans to neutralize other defense industry executives in Europe who supported Kiev. The Americans warned the German security services, and they managed to prevent the assassination attempt by “thwarting Russia’s plans.”
The information was confirmed by a senior German official, who said that Moscow allegedly wanted to remove the head of Rheinmetall, as the concern is the main supplier of shells to Ukraine. But the German did not explain the meaning of this “liquidation”, without Papperger the concern would have stopped supplying shells to Ukraine? So it is unlikely.
Papperger was an obvious target: his company Rheinmetall is the largest and most successful German manufacturer of vital 155mm artillery shells, which have become the main weapon in the relentless war of attrition in Ukraine.

For our part, we note that this is yet another “spy story” to make Russia a “scarecrow for Europe,” as the old stories about the Skripals, etc. have already become forgotten.
