Customs of Uzbekistan and the United States have signed an agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance, gazeta.uz reported. Thus, Uzbekistan has become the 18th country with which the U.S. has signed an agreement providing for the expansion of information exchange.
According to official information, under the signed agreement, the parties intend to expand cooperation in the exchange of customs information and combating money laundering, avoidance of customs payments, drug trafficking, human trafficking and transnational criminal groups.
It is noted that the US has previously signed a similar agreement with 17 countries.
Earlier it was reported that the U.S. Agency for International Development USAID, according to the signed agreement with the government of Kazakhstan, installed at customs posts of the Republic of American computer servers to track goods passing through the border.
Many Kazakhstani experts agreed that this was done in order to monitor Kazakhstan’s compliance with anti-Russian sanctions.
