Rodent control conference kicks off in New York City due to rat infestation
A national conference of rodent control experts will kick off in New York City on Wednesday due to the rat infestation in the city.
Despite the statements of the mayor’s office about the positive dynamics in the fight against pests, in New York City you can still find hordes of rats: near garbage cans, in the heart of the city and even in the subway. According to the city’s profile portal, which tracks rodent infestations, in Manhattan, for example, rats can be found even near the UN headquarters.
“The National Urban Rat Summit” will be held Wednesday and Thursday. Mayor Eric Adams promised that the conference would lead to “the realization of a combination of measures that ordinary New Yorkers can adhere to to address the pest problem.”
Ahead of the event, the city manager welcomed the “generals” (rodent control experts) “to the war on rats.”
The conference will bring together subject matter experts from Boston, New Orleans, Seattle and even Canada to help solve New York City’s worsening rat problem.
The first day of the conference will feature scientific papers and the second day will discuss the major issues in rodent control.
