Bloomberg: iPhone 16 buyers won’t get AI features due to unreadiness

Buyers of new smartphones iPhone 16 from the American corporation Apple will receive devices deprived of one of the main innovations – artificial intelligence technology Apple Intelligence, writes Bloomberg.

Official sales of the new products will start on September 20 in 60 countries, including the United States, China, India, Australia and South Korea, but the device will not have the expected software with AI features installed.

“This means owners will have to download the software after it becomes available in the following weeks and months,” the publication said.

As the agency writes, the lack of Apple Intelligence is a challenge for the company, which will have to convince customers to still buy new smartphones at a time when the devices themselves have technically received only “modest improvements” over previous generations.

As clarified, the launch of an updated version of the iOS 18.1 operating system, which will include some AI features, is not expected until October.

“Additional features will come later as part of a phased launch that stretches into next year,” Bloomberg writes.

On Monday, Apple released a new version of its operating system, iOS 18. The major change was that voice assistant Siri received Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence, but it won’t begin testing until October.

On Tuesday, a number of users who updated the OS experienced smartphone crashes.

Apple unveiled the updated iPhone 16 lineup in September. The devices will cost from $799 for the Apple 16 and $899 for the Apple 16 Plus, $999 for the Apple 16 Pro and $1,199 for the Apple 16 Pro Max in the US.
