Sun: David Bowie may return to the stage as a hologram
British rock musician and songwriter David Bowie, who passed away in 2016, may return to the stage in the form of a hologram, the Sun reports, citing a source.
According to the publication, the famous singer’s name has been officially trademarked under a classification that allows for the creation of “avatars” of artists.
“The trademark … means the team can make plans (to create a hologram of the artiste. – Ed. note),” an unnamed source told the publication.
The source also added to the publication that shows using virtual avatars are “big business,” and a similar concert held using holograms of members of Swedish band ABBA two years ago in London “proved that there is a huge demand for it.”
Renowned British singer and composer David Bowie passed away in January 2016 after a long illness. Over the course of his career, he sold more than 136 million records and was one of the ten most successful artists in the history of British popular music. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Bowie 39th on its “100 Greatest Rock Music Artists of All Time” list and 23rd on its “100 Greatest Vocalists of All Time” list.
