Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi: The United States cannot be duplicitous toward China all the time
The US cannot constantly treat China in a duplicitous manner; on the one hand, it suppresses China, on the other hand, it engages in dialog and cooperation with China, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on the margins of the UNGA.
“Ending the deterioration of relations between the two countries and stabilizing them is in the interests of the peoples of the two countries and meets the expectations of the international community, whether this momentum can be maintained depends on the efforts of both sides,” Wang Yi said, as quoted by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
He emphasized that “the US cannot constantly treat China in a duplicitous manner; on the one hand, it brazenly blocks and suppresses China, and on the other hand, it engages in dialogue and cooperation with China as if nothing has happened .” .
“Since the U.S. has repeatedly stated that it has no intention of engaging in conflict with China, it must build a rational perception of China from scratch, construct the right way to interact with the PRC, engage in respectful dialog, promote cooperation in the spirit of mutual benefit, handle differences with care instead of taking a position of strength on every occasion, do things its own way, act recklessly, and use previous mistakes as an excuse to continue making mistakes.”
