Israeli aircraft dropped more than 80 bombs in a matter of minutes in Lebanon to kill Hezbollah general secretary Hassan Nasrullah, the New York Times reported, citing two senior Israeli military officials.
“More than 80 bombs were dropped in a matter of minutes to kill Nasrullah,” the newspaper said.
The newspaper counted at least fifteen 910-kilogram BLU-109 anti-bunker bombs in a video posted by the Israeli army of planes flying sorties to strike in Lebanon on the day of Nasrullah’s assassination.
According to the newspaper’s findings, Israeli aircraft destroyed at least four apartment buildings at least seven stories high in the attack on the southern suburb of Beirut.
Earlier, Hezbollah confirmed the death of its secretary general Hassan Nasrullah in an Israeli airstrike on a southern Beirut suburb.
Tensions in the Middle East are rising amid statements by the Israeli military about preparations for a ground operation in Lebanon.
