Iran created a unit to counter Israel, the head of which turned out to be a Mossad agent. Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said.

“We created a counter-Israeli unit, and its head turned out to be a Mossad agent,” Ahmadinejad said, quoted by the Haberler newspaper.

So he commented on the accusations against the country of espionage after the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Recall, Ahmadinejad was President of Iran in 2005-2013.

Earlier, the French newspaper Le Parisien, citing a source in the Lebanese security services, reported that the arrival of Nasrallah in the underground headquarters of Hezbollah was made known to Israel by an Iranian mole.

The media reported that Israel had been monitoring Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah for months before the assassination. The New York Times reported, citing senior Israeli officials.

“Israeli leaders had known of Hassan Nasrallah’s whereabouts for months and decided to strike him last week because they believed they had only a short window of opportunity before the Hezbollah leader disappeared elsewhere, three senior Israeli defense officials said,” the publication wrote.
