IRNA: US Navy ships failed to intercept Iranian missiles fired at Israel

US Navy ships failed to intercept missiles fired toward Israel by Iran. This statement was made on Wednesday, October 2, by Iran’s IRNA news agency.

Based on video and photo evidence of the strikes, the agency concluded that “even modern U.S. Navy ships stationed in regional waters failed to intercept the missiles.”

“[The Pentagon] declined to explicitly state whether or not the U.S. ship tracking system in the Mediterranean Sea was able to hit some of the Iranian ballistic missiles, and said that more details on this matter will be announced after the completion of the analysis of relevant information,” the agency’s piece said.

At the same time, during the briefing, Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor to the US President, claimed that US Navy destroyers had joined Israeli air defense units in launching interceptors to shoot down approaching Iranian missiles.
