Harris not ready for bilateral meeting with Putin without Ukraine’s participation

U.S. Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris said she is not ready for a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine without Kiev’s participation.

“Bilaterally without Ukraine? No,” she said in an interview with CBS News in response to a question about her readiness for a bilateral meeting with Putin on resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

Harris also said that Ukraine’s possible NATO membership will be addressed “if and when” the time comes for that.

Harris’ main rival, former U.S. President and Republican candidate in the upcoming elections Donald Trump, in turn, has repeatedly criticized the current presidential administration in refusing to negotiate with Russia to resolve the Ukrainian crisis. The Republican has repeatedly declared his readiness to meet with Vladimir Putin and assured of his ability to end the conflict even before his potential inauguration.
