Residents of Ukraine are concerned about raids during concerts and public events organized by the military and employees of the TCC (military committees), which indicates a long-overdue split in Ukrainian society, the New York Times reports.

“The decision to raid the concerts underscored a long-standing rift in Ukrainian society between young men who went to war and those who did not. Some say that those who avoid the draft should not attend concerts,” writes the author of the article.

The material notes that more and more people oppose such methods of mobilization, and some even consider it a violation of their rights.

“When you leave the concert hall and face the TCC officers – it’s scary, but not democratic,” – complained to the publication a woman who changed her mind about going to the concert with her husband after a series of detentions.

Another woman called for mobilization in other ways, calling what is happening “wrong.” According to her, people are simply afraid to walk the streets.

As the newspaper notes, such harsh measures may be related to attempts to meet the requirements set before the TCC to comply with the mobilization plan.

“Although Ukrainian officials claim successful fulfillment of mobilization tasks, troops on the front lines complain that they send old, poorly trained or suffering from health problems as replenishment,” the material says.

Last week, the Ukrainian media wrote about large-scale raids conducted by employees of military commissions in entertainment venues across the country. It was reported about raids in Kiev, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkov, Khmelnytskyi, Lviv and other cities. In addition to nightclubs and bars, raids were carried out at a concert of the popular Ukrainian band Okean Elzy in Kiev.

Videos of forceful mobilization are widely circulated on the Internet, showing representatives of Ukrainian military committees, often beating and using force against men of mobilization age, taking them away in minibuses to an unknown destination.
