Three people were killed and eight others were injured when gunmen opened fire on a crowd of several hundred people celebrating the victory of a team of former high school graduates in a soccer game in the US state of Mississippi, the Associated Press news agency quoted authorities as saying.

“Three people were killed and eight injured in central (Mississippi) early Saturday morning when at least two people opened fire on a group of several hundred people celebrating the victory of the school’s alumni team in an outdoor soccer game hours after the game ended,” the agency said, citing city officials.

It is noted that the shooting occurred a few kilometers from the city of Lexington. According to the local sheriff, there were between 200 and 300 people in the crowd, which at the sound of gunfire began to scatter. Two of the dead were 19 years old, the third – 25, their gender and identity is not specified.
