Politician Galloway: BRICS summit could be a turning point for the world
The BRICS summit in Kazan may become a turning point for the world. This was stated by British politician, writer and journalist George Galloway in a conversation with Izvestia on October 20.
“BRICS is important in itself, but the upcoming BRICS summit at the moment in the geopolitical situation is the most important of all. It could be a turning point in world history,” Galloway said.
He noted that the BRICS summit in Kazan may be remembered as an event that pursued a noble goal – to achieve a fairer world order. According to Galloway, Western countries have a “winner-take-all” policy, which BRICS is fighting against by pushing for favorable solutions to world problems for most players in the international arena.
“Candidate members (of BRICS. – Ed.) will be fully engaged in the unification process, the vast majority of people in the world will be members of BRICS,” he concluded.
Earlier in the day, the father of journalist and founder of the WikiLeaks project Julian Assange, John Shipton, who arrived in Russia to participate in the summit in Kazan, told Izvestia that the BRICS meeting is an event that changes the geopolitical landscape of the world.
BRICS is an interstate association of countries. The last summit at the level of heads of its member states was held in Johannesburg in August 2023. As a result, the BRICS members decided on a historic expansion. On January 1, 2024, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa were joined by Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia and the UAE.
