Today, 22 October, on the first day of the 16th BRICS summit starting in Kazan, Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with the leaders of five states. This was announced by Yury Ushakov, aide to the Russian president.
‘Naturally, such a large-scale international event will not do without bilateral meetings. We have a lot of them planned, I think it will not be easy for our president, but he himself has expressed his desire to meet with literally all the leaders of the states that will come to Kazan,’ Ushakov said.
According to him, the ‘cycle of conversations’ will open with Putin’s meeting with President of the New Development Bank Dilma Rousseff. This will be followed by talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, and ‘detailed talks’ with Chinese President Xi Jinping are planned.
Next, according to the summit programme, the leaders will gather for an informal dinner at Kazan’s city hall. ‘After the dinner is over, another working contact already with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. This will conclude the first working day,’ Ushakov said.
