Analyst Escobar: BRICS summit will be the beginning of a multipolar world

It is still early to talk about the formation of a multipolar world, but the BRICS summit in Kazan will be its beginning, and world leaders understand this, journalist and geopolitical analyst Pepe Escobar told.

‘I think that even all the breakthroughs that have been announced will not change the system and turn it upside down in one summit. No. This is just the beginning. And that’s great. It’s like a high-speed train leaving the station,’ Pepe Escobar said on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan.

‘I’m sure the leaders understand it perfectly well. Mr (Russian President Vladimir) Putin understands it, Mr (Chinese President) Xi Jinping understands it, Mr (Indian Prime Minister Narendra) Modi is also starting to understand it. This is very, very important. But it is just beginning now,’ he added.

Pepe Escobar also said there is growing geopolitical unity among BRICS members and roadmaps are being developed to attract new members next year. In particular, the analyst noted that if Saudi Arabia is finally integrated as part of BRICS, he said it would be a huge achievement for the association.
