An astronaut who returned to Earth as part of the Crew Dragon mission has developed an illness.
A NASA astronaut experienced health problems after safely returning to Earth on Friday as part of SpaceX’s Crew-8 mission, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration said.
NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt and Jeanette Epps and Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin were transported together to Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola Medical Centre in Florida. After medical examinations at the hospital, the three crew members left Pensacola for NASA’s Johnson Space Centre in Houston. The only astronaut who remains at the medical centre is in stable condition and under observation as a precaution,” it said.
To protect the crew member’s medical confidentiality, no specific details about the individual’s condition or identity have been released.
During routine medical examinations, additional evaluation of the crew members was requested as a precaution. The eight crew members landed aboard the Dragon spacecraft near Pensacola, Florida, to complete a 235-day mission, including 232 days aboard the International Space Station (ISS) conducting scientific research, NASA added.
Roscosmos said on 25 October that the US Crew Dragon spacecraft carrying three US astronauts and Russian cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin had returned to Earth.
