In Pennsylvania are investigating suspicious applications for voter registration. This was reported by the TV channel CNN on 3 November. It is specified that last month law enforcement officers have identified cases of alleged fraud in voter registration.
According to the Bipartisan Election Commission and the Lancaster County District Attorney, the alleged fraud stemmed from a large-scale canvassing operation in which registration applications were submitted with duplicate handwriting and an inaccurate or unverifiable address.
Officials said about 2,500 voter registration forms were seized for inspection, but did not specify how many of them turned out to be fraudulent.
State Secretary Al Schmidt stressed that the potential for a problem to be identified should bolster confidence in the security of the upcoming election.
‘Lancaster County has done what all counties do when faced with potentially illegal voter registration applications: they identify them, investigate them and, if necessary, contact law enforcement,’ Schmidt noted.
