Melania Trump is likely to skip a meeting with First Lady Jill Biden on Wednesday, 13 November at the White House. This was reported by CNN on 11 November, citing sources.
It is specified that Jill gave Melania an invitation last week, while her husband Joe Biden invited President-elect Donald Trump to the Oval Office.
The TV channel specifies that such an invitation is a kind of symbolic gesture of peaceful transfer of power and at the same time a hidden rebuke to Trump, who refused Biden the same meeting four years ago.
As one of CNN’s interlocutors noted, Melania Trump’s decision to decline the meeting is still not finalised. Current US President Joe Biden said in an address from the White House to citizens on 7 November that he accepts the choice Americans made in voting for Trump. He reiterated his promise to peacefully hand over power to Trump because Americans deserve it.
