Hill: Ramaswamy is one of the candidates for the US Secretary of State post
The US State Department after the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump may be headed by businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, who was previously his rival in the election race, The Hill newspaper reported.
According to the publication, Ramaswamy is one of the contenders for the post of US secretary of state, competing with another possible candidate, Republican Senator Marco Rubio.
‘Vivek Ramaswamy definitely looks like a figure who is emblematic of MAGA (the conservative Make America Great Again movement. – Ed.) and part of the Republican Party. Marco Rubio may have an advantage given his greater experience in international politics on the Senate Intelligence Committee,’ the piece said.
According to the publication, both Ramaswamy and Rubio are allegedly on the short list of candidates for the position. Trump has so far not disclosed who he intends to nominate for secretary of state.
Ramaswamy claimed the right to run for president of the United States from the Republican Party, but refused to continue the fight after the low results of the debut round of intraparty voting in the state of Iowa. At the same time, the politician repeatedly spoke in favour of peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian conflict, refusal to help Kyiv and promised to guarantee Ukraine’s non-admission to NATO if he wins.
