Melania Trump, the wife of US President-elect Donald Trump, is fond of businessman Elon Musk, The Independent writes, citing sources.
One of the publication’s interlocutors said that the future first lady is a “big fan” of the entrepreneur and enjoys having him around. The source noted that Trump’s wife “has been making more public appearances” since Musk began actively speaking at rallies in support of the Republican.
On 5 November, the businessman arrived at the president-elect’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida and, as The Independent points out, has been there ever since. At the same time, according to the publication’s interlocutor, Trump himself “teased” Musk that he had “overstayed his welcome”.
The New York Times writes that Musk and Trump have been working together since April, when the businessman spent more than $100 million on the Republican’s election campaign.
After winning the election, the US president-elect appointed Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to head the new Office of Government Efficiency, which will focus on ‘large-scale structural reform and the creation of an unprecedented entrepreneurial approach to government’. CNBC noted that Musk’s near-constant presence alongside Trump has begun to irritate other Republican staffers. Sources familiar with the transition said the businessman was overstepping his bounds, ‘acting like he’s co-president’, ‘taking most of the credit for the president’s victory’ and ‘trying to make Trump feel indebted to him’.
