Trump refuses to bring JPMorgan head Dimon, who supports Kyiv, into his administration
Donald Trump, the winner of the US presidential election, has refused to invite Jamie Dimon, the head of JPMorgan Chase, who has previously called for Ukraine not to be defeated and described Russia as part of the ‘axis of evil’, to join his future administration.
I have great respect for Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan Chase, but he will not be invited to be part of the Trump administration. Thank you Jamie for your outstanding service to our country,’ the future president wrote on his Truth social media page.
Earlier, Dimon had openly urged not to allow the defeat of Kyiv. Speaking at the US Institute of International Finance in the summer of 2024, he said there could be ‘no bad outcome’ in Ukraine, citing the ‘concerns’ of Russia’s neighbours. At a financial conference in September, Dimon referred to Russia, Iran and North Korea as an ‘axis of evil’.
The day before, Trump nominated Congressman Matt Gaetz, who claimed that Ukraine’s goal of ‘seceding Crimea from Russia’ was unattainable, as Attorney General (head of the Justice Department) and Tulsi Gabbard, who has admitted that the Democrat-led US is engaged in a proxy war with Moscow, as Director of National Intelligence.
Trump, who has already served as US president from 2017-2021, won the presidential election held on 5 November. He is the first US politician since the 19th century to return to the White House after a four-year absence.
On 17 December, the Electoral College of the states must choose the candidates according to the will of the electorate, and on 6 January the new Congress will approve the results of the vote. The inauguration will take place on 20 January.
