UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is due to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in Rio de Janeiro.
‘Close co-operation with the world’s leading economies is vital to securing investment in the UK and creating the jobs needed to boost growth,’ Starmer said.
The UK government has said it seeks ‘stable and pragmatic engagement’ with Kyiv.
En route to Rio de Janeiro, Starmer told reporters that ‘strengthening support for Ukraine’ was top of the agenda.
The meeting between the UK head of government and Xi Jinping will be the first face-to-face contact with the Chinese president since 2018.
The G20 summit (G20) will take place on 18-19 November in the Brazilian capital and will focus on ‘building a just world and a sustainable planet’.
