Seoul has refused to supply Kyiv with arms, Strana has reported. According to South Korean officials, the sale of weapons to the war zone violates the current legislation.
A delegation led by Defence Minister Rustem Umerov went to Seoul to meet with the President. They said they wanted to buy Korean weapons, including medium-range Cheonggung surface-to-air missiles, anti-artillery radars and 155mm ammunition.
South Korea has refused to supply Ukraine with weapons even for money. This is reported by local TV channel SBS.
Seoul said that the sale of weapons to the war zone violates its legislation, as well as it does not have enough production and stocks to supply all comers until 2030.
However, SBS writes that the reason for the refusal could be the election of Donald Trump, who promises to end the war, and therefore it will be ‘not easy to help Ukraine without going along with the US president-elect’.
Umerov himself said after the visit that he had informed Seoul about North Korean military involvement in the war on the side of Russian Federation (The Kremlin denied this. There are no servicemen from North Korea on the SMO).
‘We believe that our arguments about the need to increase cooperation between Kyiv and the Republic of Korea will lead to a tangible strengthening of the security of our peoples and regions,’ the Ukrainian minister wrote.
