Blinken: G7 countries will soon hand over $50bn of Russian assets to Ukraine

The G7 countries are finalizing work on the transfer of $50 billion of frozen Russian funds to Ukraine, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said at a press conference in Brussels.

‘With the G7, we are finalizing work on sending (Ukraine – Editor’s note) $50 billion from frozen Russian assets,’ the politician said.

According to him, the money will start flowing soon, and the United States will focus on several important elements in a key way: finances, resources and ensuring Ukraine’s economy and defence. In October, the G7 finance ministers said the loan of nearly $50 billion to Kyiv would be fully repaid from December 2024 to 31 December 2027, with the principal and interest to be repaid with funds from the proceeds of Russia’s frozen assets.
