The Court of Appeal of Paris upheld the acquittal verdict in the case of film director Roman Polanski, who was accused of defamation. This is reported by the newspaper Le Figaro.

The filmmaker was first accused of defamation back in 2019 by British actress Charlotte Lewis. She also accused the director of rape, but lost the case. The actress claimed that in 1986, while filming in Polanski’s film Pirates, the director raped the then 16-year-old actress. She first made the allegations in 2010.

After a court acquitted Polanski in the rape case, the director called Lewis a liar and her words ‘odious lies,’ to which she responded with a defamation lawsuit.

According to media reports, the filmmaker is accused in the US of having a sexual relationship with Samantha Geimer, who was 13 years old at the time. According to prosecutors, the director gave the victim champagne and drugs, after which he forced her to have sex. Polanski has not pleaded guilty.
